Literacy

Our vision is to create inclusive literacy opportunities where people with developmental disabilities can develop communication, reading, and learning skills in ways that respect their abilities and interests. Literacy is more than reading and writing. It is a way for people to understand the world, express their thoughts, and participate in everyday life.

We believe that every person has the right to learn at their own pace and in their own style. Literacy activities should be supportive, engaging, and adapted to each individual. Some people may learn through books and writing, while others may benefit from pictures, storytelling, music, technology, or conversation.

I will encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Activities may include shared reading, storytelling, simple writing exercises, communication games, and digital literacy. These experiences help individuals improve language skills, build self-esteem, and connect with others.

Literacy also supports independence. When people develop communication and comprehension skills, they can make choices, share ideas, and participate more actively in their communities.

Our long-term vision is to build learning environments where people with developmental disabilities feel respected, capable, and motivated to keep learning throughout their lives. Through patience, encouragement, and inclusive teaching, literacy becomes a tool for empowerment and personal growth.
