My approach as DSW will be to support individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities based on respecting them as members of this community. Being a DSW means to support a person in many aspects of their life from childhood to adulthood.
The most important concepts for me will be the promotion of self-compassion, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Lastly, I will encourage living a life full of hope and social inclusion.
I will encourage the development of smart goals promoting self-determination. It will be very important to find out what the goals of the person supported are. I will work toward the accomplishment of these goals and encourage working harder for the goals that are the most difficult in terms of the ADLs that will promote independence and self-efficacy.
